History

The Castle School History Department encourages a real understanding of and respect for the past so that pupils can apply their knowledge and skills to the present.

We want to encourage pupils to look at history through unbiased eyes and to demonstrate empathy and humility when they are learning about the lives of people from the past.

We are also keen for pupils to learn historical facts and have a sound knowledge of historical periods! We offer pupils access to a wide range of sources and use the wealth of history around us in Pembrokeshire – castles, battles and industry – to illustrate the topics we teach.

Castle School teaches the skills and range included in the National Curriculum. At Key Stage 4, we follow the WJEC History GCSE syllabus.
