The Admissions Process

Castle School is a non selective school for pupils aged 3 - 18.  Usual entry is in September at the beginning of the school year, but applicants are welcome to join at any time or year subject to vacant availability.

Initial Enquiry

Please contact learn@castleschoolpembrokeshire.co.uk or telephone 01834 218220 to request a prospectus for the Main School or 6th Form.   We will be delighted to talk to you and answer any initial queries you may have.  Please complete and return an Expression of Interest form which is included in the Prospectus.  You will then be added to our database and be contacted with any information that may be of interest – Open Day dates, Transition events, etc.

School Visits

We will be delighted to arrange for you and your family to visit for a tour of the school and to meet with our Principal, Mrs Harriet Harrison or our Headteacher, Mrs Lucy Letten.  During this visit you can have an informal chat about your child and what we have to offer.

There will be an Open day held during the Summer Term to which all interested pupils and their families will be invited to attend

Transition Days

We hold several Transition Days throughout the year when current Year 6 pupils can attend the school for the day.  These days will include fun yet educational lessons which will give pupils a taste of learning in a secondary environment.   There is usually a Transition Day during each term of the academic year plus an additional Bushcraft Day held in the Summer Term.

Taster Days

All prospective pupils are welcome to attend the school for a day or week to experience the school environment before committing to attending the school.  This can be arranged at any time.

School Entry

There is no entrance exam at any level.  The Principal or Headteacher will discuss ability levels, expectations, assessment, etc, with you when you visit.  Please bring any information you think might be relevant with you.

Progressing things..................

When you have decided that you would like your child to join Castle School please complete a Registration Form.  This will be acknowledged with our confirmation of a place.

Before attending the school you will need to complete a Consent Form which provides all the information we will require about your child, i.e. medical information, emergency contact details, etc.

We do not have a boarding house facility but if boarding is required we have host families who accommodate pupils either on a weekly basis or termly.  For more information on this service please contact Mrs C Stratford on cherry.stratford@castleschoolpembrokeshire.co.uk or 01834 218220.

We look forward to your enquiry and welcoming you to Castle School.

Fees

Fees are £2,995.00 per term payable on or before the first day of term. Fees include subject books and equipment, regular sporting and subject specific activities. Not included are Public examination fees, trips, individual music lessons and individual speech and drama lessons (LAMDA).

Lunches are charged at £165.00 per term - see lunch menu.

We endeavour to keep our fees as low as we can and additional costs to a minimum, whilst still providing an excellent education.

In order to make Castle School as accessible to as many families as possible we do not offer scholarships and bursaries. But prefer to benefit ALL at the school with low fees rather than just one or two families. A terms notice is required for any child leaving the school. There is a 10% discount for a second child whilst there are two children at the school.

Transport

Castle School is within reasonable traveling distance of most of the towns in Pembrokeshire.

We have transport which covers the majority of the county - this is provided using our own minibuses and contract buses/minibuses from local bus companies.

There is a daily charge for this service - please contact us for further details.

Uniform

Castle School is committed to providing a stress free learning environment where some of the pressures associated with ‘growing up’ are minimised.  We believe pupils will have ample opportunity to express themselves at school without doing so through dress/jewellery/makeup

We ask pupils to respect our uniform and wear it properly.

etc.

All uniform items can be bought at Matthews in Haverfordwest (01437 762706).  A uniform list is available on request.
