Year 7 & Crab Hacker Barnacles!
Year 7 pupils had a fantastic day out rock-pooling and seine netting at Dale and The Gann with Darwin Science.
The pupils found some fascinating creatures and examined the sort of adaptations that they have in order to survive in the harsh environments on the seashore. The highlights of the day were catching flatfish in the seine net and also finding a 'Crab Hacker Barnacle' a parasitic species of barnacle that takes over the body of a shore crab.
A fantastic hands-on learning experience!
