Prep School

Castle School Prep is a relatively new addition to the Castle School family but one that is at the centre of its heart.  Around the school it is truly joyous to hear and see young children going about the business of learning.  At Castle School Prep we take our learning very seriously both in the form of classroom learning, outdoor learning and playing.

Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity.” – Kay Redfield Jamison

Children can join us from rising three years for up to two hours a day to get used to school life and after their third birthday they are welcome to join us full time.  If required we can work with you to come up with a part time, more manageable weekly timetable that is the right fit for your family during this early stage of their education.

Our Prep is divided into lower and upper prep with age appropriate classes within each level.  Each class will have one main teacher (class teacher) but several specific subjects are delivered by specialists – science, Spanish, tennis, music and drama.  One day a week is spent at our Outdoor School.  We have a log cabin classroom, sheltered areas and five acres of woodland, stream, grassland and ponds where activities and lessons are conducted under the watchful eye of our Outdoor School Director, Ruth Harris. Outdoor School day is always a firm favourite come rain or shine.

Please see our Prep Curriculum for further information or contact us to arrange a visit – we’d love to see you!
